About The League
The Croydon Netball League was founded in 1979 to allow people in Croydon to play the sport within the boundaries/borough of Croydon.
Over recent years we have been working very closely with Shirley High School, England Netball and Sport England to improve the facilities available and are very proud that we now have 6 fully resurfaced, remarked floodlit courts, which are of the highest playable standard. This has taken a lot of work by a lot of people but it has been totally worth it. We host a Saturday Winter League from September to April/May which is held at Shirley High School with game times at 9.30/11.00/12.30/2.00; an Evening League from September to April held on Monday and Thursday nights at 7.15 and 8.15 at Shirley High School and Coombe Wood School; a Summer League held from May to July which is played at Shirley High School with matches at 7.30 each evening Monday to Thursday. Our Winter League has eight divisions including Premier A, Premier B and Premier C which covers 65 teams Additionally we have a number of clubs who have thriving junior sections which gives a great start to the youngsters and ensures the future of the game. Our aim is to offer all levels of standards the chance to play our sport including Walking and Back to Netball sessions for anyone wanting to get back into the game run at present by 4/5 clubs within the League. To enable us to do all of this we support and encourage all our umpires and coaches in the progression of them gaining all the qualifications possible. In conjunction with Croydon School Sport Partnership we run a number of Skills & Drills days for any school in the borough to bring along interested children from Years 4 & 5 to gain the basic knowledge of netball, plus they have the opportunity to watch a showcase game from a local senior school. We in Croydon are very proud of everything we do to promote netball and look forward to the continual growth.
