Versatility Rally
The versatile skills of players in the Croydon Netball League was put to the test on Saturday at Shirley High School.
With a total of 24 teams entering to play each of the 7 position of a Netball team thoughout the day. This rally is one of the most popular with players. With 8 teams in each division the players change position each time they play thus giving them the chance to show off their skills in a position where they would not normally play.
At the lunch over 75 of the players entered into the shooting competition. This is where a knock out shooting display takes place, with a prize at the end all the entrants play a fast shooting game, the last person left in is the winner. This year saw Croham Netball Clubs Debbie Desaulles left standing. The profits from this will go to a Women's Charity in Croydon.
By the end of an exhusting day the 3 teams at the top of each division play in the triangle final, picking out of a hat for the position that they will play. The first game between Roundwood A and Karisma saw Roundwood win 4-3, next Karisma faced Crickets A where spectators witnessed a 7-7 draw, the final match Crickets knew that they had to beat the mighty Roundwood to win the rally. Although they put on a spendid display, Roundwood piped them to the trophy with a win of 9-6. Retired Chairman from the Croydon Netball League Lyn Handley presented the Shield to Roundwood the worthy winners.
